Schönox ES silicone sealant

Anti-fungal. Permanently elastic. For sealing and sealing connection and expansion joints. For interior and exterior use.

Product characteristics

Area of application

• Sealing and sealing of connection and movement joints, e.g. between tiles and bathtub, washbasin, shower tray, pipe penetrations, toilet fittings, sink, etc.
• inside and outside
• sealing of full-glass constructions (glass construction)

Surface requirements

• The joints must be dry and free from dirt and separating agents.
• For joint widths of 5 to 10 mm, the joint cross-section must be square.
• Joint widths of 10 to 20 mm require a joint depth of 10 mm.
• For joint widths above 20 mm, the joint depth may be half the joint width.
• Fill deeper joints with foam or suitable material.
• Avoid three-point bonding.
• Pre-treat stainless steel, aluminium, plastics and alkaline substrates such as plaster, masonry, concrete, etc. with a suitable primer.

Technical data

• basic one-component silicone sealant

• processing temperature +5 °C to +40 °C
• Temperature resistance when cured -40 °C to +180 °C

Consumption

Consumption depends on the joint size. A tube of Schönox ES is sufficient depending on the joint width/depth - for the following joint lengths:

• joint size (width x depth) 5 x 5 mm -> 1 tube is sufficient for approx. 12 m
• joint size (width x depth) 6 x 6 mm -> 1 cartridge is sufficient for approx. 8.5 m
• joint size (width x depth) 7 x 7 mm -> 1 tube is sufficient for approx. 6.5 m
• joint size (width x depth) 8 x 8 mm -> 1 duct is sufficient for approx. 4.5 m
• joint size (width x depth) 10 x 10 mm -> 1 duct is sufficient for approx. 3.0 m
• joint size (width x depth) 12 x 10 mm -> 1 duct is sufficient for approx. 2.5 m
• joint size (width x depth) 15 x 10 mm -> 1 duct is sufficient for approx. 2.0 m
• joint size (width x depth) 20 x 12 mm -> 1 cartridge is sufficient for approx. 1.3 m

Instructions for use

• Cover edges with self-adhesive tape.
• Fill joints evenly with Schönox ES.
• Immediately smooth the surface with a damp spatula, wet jointing board, jointing iron or finger. Use washing-up liquid before grouting.
• Remove tape immediately.

Storage

• Store in a cool, dry and frost-free place.
• Can be stored for 18 months.
• Use opened containers in the short term.

Recommendation

• Vulcanised mass can only be removed mechanically.
• For technical reasons colour differences may occur between the tubes. However, these do not affect the quality of the silicone sealant. We are not liable for these or other colour deviations.
• Due to the acid hardener system, some metals (lead, iron, zinc) may rust. Cq. provide adequate protection.
• The fungicidal equipment of Schönox ES prevents mould on the sealant surface. High humidity, heat, light and irregular cleaning promote mould.
• A joint compound is a maintenance joint. Please note the ZDB mark sheet "Bewegungsfugen in Bekleidungen aus Fliesen und Platten" (September 1995).
