Support when getting up from a lying position
Persons lying on a stretcher or in bed want to be able to recline or sit up. This can be done by means of armrests, but these are not always present or suitable. A support facility above the user, called a parrot, can offer a solution. One must be able to lift one's own weight.The parrot is mounted on the wall. Built into the mount is a swing-away system that allows the parrot to turn away from the wall. Thus, the parrot is not in the way during care and/or transfers with caregivers and other aids such as a hoist.
The parrot can be locked, by means of a cord, at 0º, 45º, 90º, 135º and 180º. The cord for locking can also be operated from a lying position.
The handle can be adjusted to the correct height thanks to a length-adjustable nylon strap. This strap, supplied with the parrot, is equipped with a plastic handle in a triangle shape.
CAUTION: This method of lifting puts strain on arms, shoulder and back. Discuss in advance with a professional, such as a paramedic, whether this solution is suitable for you.
